Welcome to the informational website of Yerulan Mustafin, a prominent Kazakhstani mathematician and economist who combines academic depth with applied expertise in finance, investment, and economic policy. His career spans international scientific research, teaching at universities in Europe and North America, working in Kazakhstan's central financial institutions, and leading investment structures and consulting projects. This site provides a detailed biographical and bibliographical report, including information about his education, scientific and professional activities, international connections, publications, and teaching work. His career includes significant academic achievements, work in the financial sector in key positions such as Deputy Director of the Financial Stability Department at the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2017–2022), and since October 2022, he has been the Managing Director of the investment company Tansar Capital and CEO of TG Global Ltd.

Biography

Yerulan Tulendievich Mustafin was born in 1973 in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. He grew up in the family of a scientist—Tolendy Garifovich Mustafin (1942–1994), a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and founder of the Kazakhstani school of mathematical logic and model theory. Under the influence of the scientific environment, his interest in mathematics and logic began to form from an early age. From 1990–1995, Yerulan studied at Karaganda State University and simultaneously participated in a dual degree program with Novosibirsk State University, where he received a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics with honors in 1995. In 2001, he entered the doctoral program at Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 (Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France), where in 2003 he defended his dissertation with honors (mention "Très honorable") on "Linear groups definable over a superstable field" under the supervision of Professor Bruno Poizat (scientific genealogy). From 2004 to 2006, he worked at the same university as an ATER (Attaché Temporaire d'Enseignement et de Recherche), teaching algebra, mathematical analysis, probability theory, game theory, and mathematical logic. From 2003–2011, he lived in Canada, where he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), taught at McGill University, and studied economics at the University of Montreal (Université de Montréal, 2006–2007). From 1997–2000, he worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Applied Mathematics in Karaganda, where he was involved in the development and research of neural network models, combining applied interest with theoretical rigor. These studies became one of the early examples of applying logical and algebraic methods to data analysis and intelligent systems.

Financial and Investment Sector:

From 2008 to 2012, he worked at TitleTrading Services Inc. (Canada) as a risk manager until 2011, then managed his own office in Almaty, operating as a franchise. The main activity was the analysis of trading risks and management of high-frequency strategies. In 2011, he returned to Kazakhstan and continued his career in the financial sector: at Halyk Finance as Chief Analyst and Risk Manager (2011–2015), then at the National Investment Corporation (NIC) as Director of Strategies and Risks (2016–2017), and at the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan as Deputy Director of the Financial Stability Department (2017–2022). Since October 2022, Yerulan Mustafin has been the Managing Director of the investment company Tansar Capital and CEO of TG Global Ltd.

Teaching and Research

Yerulan Mustafin has taught courses in mathematical logic, algebra, analysis, probability theory, and game theory at universities in Kazakhstan, Canada, and France. His research work covers both fundamental logic (particularly stable theories and groups of finite Morley rank) and applied problems in economics and financial stability theory. At the National Bank of Kazakhstan, he was involved in modeling the yield curve, deposit risks, and liquidity of the government securities market. His early research on neural network models was a logical continuation of his interest in intelligent systems and served as a link between mathematical logic and applied informatics.

International Collaboration

He actively participated in international mathematical projects, including joint work with Professor Bruno Poizat, and also organized Franco-Kazakhstani colloquia on model theory (1997, 2000, 2005). He also maintains partnerships in the financial and investment industry through training and consulting projects. Among recent initiatives is participation in organizing investment conferences: Asset Management Universe and Tansar Capital Investors Annual Meeting.

Public Recognition

Yerulan Mustafin's publications are actively cited in scientific literature, and his contribution to the development of financial market analysis and financial stability policy is recognized both in Kazakhstan and internationally. He regularly participates in high-level consulting formats, industry conferences, and strategic initiatives.
